Les Systèmes d'Information Géographique (SIG) occupent actuellement une position stratégique dans l'analyse, la gestion et la valorisation des données spatiales. Ils fournissent des outils avancés qui aident à comprendre la complexité des dynamiques territoriales et soutiennent les processus de prise de décision. Dans un contexte caractérisé par le changement climatique, l'urbanisation accélérée et la pression croissante sur les ressources naturelles, les SIG représentent un instrument clé pour une gouvernance territoriale durable. Au Maroc, l'utilisation des SIG a connu une expansion significative dans les secteurs public, semi-public et privé.
C'est dans ce cadre que le Congrès International des Utilisateurs de SIG (FEZ GIS-Users’2026) s'est imposé comme une plateforme scientifique et technique dédiée à la promotion et à la diffusion des avancées en géomatique. Depuis sa première édition tenue en 2012 à Taza, suivie des éditions de Meknès (2014), Oujda (2016), Meknès (2018), Fès (2023) après une interruption causée par la pandémie de COVID-19, et Errachidia (2024), cet événement a contribué à bâtir une communauté nationale dynamique qui reste fortement ouverte sur les collaborations internationales.
Le congrès vise à promouvoir l'innovation dans des domaines émergents tels que la télédétection, la modélisation spatiale, la Géo-Intelligence Artificielle (Géo-IA) et le Big Data géospatial. Il encourage également l'interdisciplinarité et favorise les interactions entre chercheurs, décideurs et acteurs socio-économiques. Ainsi, le congrès GIS-USERS constitue un cadre stratégique pour le développement des compétences, le transfert de connaissances et la mise en œuvre de solutions innovantes face aux défis actuels et futurs du développement durable.
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) currently occupy a strategic position in the analysis, management, and valorization of spatial data. They provide advanced tools that help understand the complexity of territorial dynamics and support decision-making processes. In a context characterized by climate change, accelerated urbanization, and increasing pressure on natural resources, GIS represents a key instrument for sustainable territorial governance. In Morocco, the use of GIS has experienced significant expansion across public, semi-public, and private sectors.
Within this context, the International GIS Users Congress (FEZ GIS-Users’2026) has emerged as a scientific and technical platform dedicated to the promotion and dissemination of advances in geomatics. Since its first edition held in 2012 at the Faculty of Multidisciplinary Studies of Taza, followed by subsequent editions in Meknes (2014), Oujda (2016), Meknes (2018), Fez (2023) after an interruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, and Errachidia (2024), this event has contributed to building a dynamic national community that remains strongly open to international collaborations.
The congress aims to promote innovation in emerging fields such as remote sensing, spatial modeling, Geo-Artificial Intelligence (Geo-AI), and geospatial Big Data. It also encourages interdisciplinarity and fosters interactions among researchers, decision-makers, and socio-economic stakeholders. Thus, the GIS-USERS Congress serves as a strategic framework for skills development, knowledge transfer, and the implementation of innovative solutions addressing current and future challenges of sustainable development.

Prof. Richard T. WALKER is Professor of Tectonics in the Department of Earth Sciences, University of Oxford, United Kingdom, and a Fellow of Reuben College. He leads the Active Tectonics and Earthquakes Research Group and serves as the Oxford lead of COMET, the UK consortium that uses satellite Earth observation to investigate earthquakes, active tectonics, volcanic hazards, seismotectonics, and satellite remote sensing (InSAR).
Pamukkale University, Denizli, Türkiye
Prof. Ali BÜLBÜL is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geological Engineering at Pamukkale University, Denizli, Türkiye. His academic and research activities focus on geothermal energy, hydrogeology, hydrogeochemistry, geochemistry, environmental impact assessment, and geothermal reservoir characterization. He has extensive experience in investigating geothermal systems using hydrogeochemical, isotopic, numerical, and reservoir modeling approaches.

Prof. Anne GOBIN is a Professor of Soil, Land and Water Management at KU Leuven University, Belgium. She is affiliated with the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences and the Faculty of Bioscience Engineering. Her research focuses on agri-environmental modelling, climate change impacts on agro-ecosystems, soil water crop interactions, land-use dynamics, geomatics, remote sensing, and sustainable soil and water resources management.

Prof. Abdelghani BOUDHER is a Professor at the Faculty of Sciences and Techniques, Cadi Ayyad University, Marrakech, Morocco. His research focuses on hydrogeology, groundwater resources, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing, environmental management, climate change, and sustainable water resources assessment. His work integrates field investigations, hydrogeological analysis, and geospatial technologies to support sustainable water management and territorial planning.
Director of the African Regional Center for Space Science and Technology in Rabat, Morocco
Prof. Anas EMRAN is the Director of the African Regional Centre for Space Science and Technology Education in French Language (CRASTE-LF), a United Nations-affiliated regional center based in Rabat, Morocco. He is also a Professor of Remote Sensing and Earth Sciences at Mohammed V University in Rabat. His research and professional interests include remote sensing, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Earth observation, geospatial technologies, space science applications, environmental monitoring, geological mapping, natural hazards, and geoscience education.
